These Eyes

I lost
another friend yesterday
to cancer

I’m some kinda tired
of cancer in general

cancer took my dad
my bestie’s father in law
has cancer
and is hanging on
by his nails

my buddy in Florida
has stage 4 lung cancer
that has metastasized
to his brain

I’ve an acquaintance who lost
most of her nose
to skin cancer

I’ve now lost 5 aunts…
and while some of them
did not die of cancer
all of them
had cancer at some point
in their lives
I’ve had cancer
my dad had 2 different kinds
I worry about my brother’s
tanned skin

Cancer has become
the leveler of  lives
as every single human being
in the world
has been touched by cancer
in some way shape or form
it causes death
and devastes the lives
of the people
around the victim
life is hard enough
without cancer
playing a role

OzzWally was one of a kind
he was sweet and gentle and caring
he played guitar
and rode motorcycle
and loved his family and friends
He couldn’t spell for shit
and that was part of the
wonderful-ness of him

he fought a long
hard battle
and still
cancer won

I.am.some.fucking.tired.of.cancer.
