A New Start

I have wiped the slate clean,
No more reminders from the past.
Memories of what I have been,
Have vanished at long last.
I look forward to my future new,
Where all is territory strange.
Soon I will be among the few,
That plans their life at long range.
I see my life laid out at my feet,
New friends shall rally at my call.
They will be the first I will greet,
At this my welcoming ball.
Soon all memories will depart,
Of a past left well behind.
I will get off to a new start,
With the best of mankind.

some thoughts about writing for the public

recently I’ve been reading a lot of info/blogs
about e-readers
the fadder got a kindle
and I’ve been helping him find “stuff” online

I came across this blog: Big Al’s Books and Pals
just about the time
he reviewed this self published book

just in time
to watch the subsequent shit show
by both his readers
and the author of said e-book
that resulted in over 300 comments

the author of the e-book posted all the good reviews
she could find online for her book
in Big Al’s comments
she called people names
she ranted
and raved

ye old blogesphere has been
buzzin since
with mostly cautionary tales
about what an author
should/could/would have done…
people have suggested
she anonymously fabricated
some of the reviews
agents
other writers
other reviewers

shit show.

so let me just say 2 things

1.
if I ever get to the point
where I publish anything
I’ll not be reading reviews
cos really?
I’d likely do the same

2.
there ain’t a chance in the world
I’m ever gonna read that woman’s work

I guess I’ve been lucky to date
if people don’t like what I write
they don’t comment
they just go away
and that’s fine by me

cos really
my skin is just as thin
as anyone else’s
and this whole shit show
has once more
suggested to me
that artists
are sensitive about their shit.

besides
didn’t someone smart say
“if ya can’t say something nice
shut yer freakin pie hole”?

LoL
