owning a Pixie is costly….

I woke up this morning to blood on the kitchen floor

Pixie had scratched her ear till it bled and for a little dog there was quite the freakin mess (freakin being the operative word…the last time a dog bled on my kitchen floor was the day I had to have Coco put down)

So off to the vet we went again…It’s definitely an allergy and the vet says most commonly a protein like table scraps or new treats of food…the vet says she’s not to have any animal meat or legumes or garlic or avocado or onions or chocolate…cos any of those can really mess her up (some like garlic, chocolate or onions can kill her)…she can only have her regular kibble, her regular dental treats and her regular peanut butter treat…she can continue to have celery, lettuce or carrot.

I’m thanking goodness it ain’t house dust she’s allergic to cos then we’d both be screwed eh?

So…during my 8 weeks off on medical leave…during the last 5 weeks I’ve spent $420.00 on Pixie (gawd bless Visa is all I’m saying…) she’s had a cortisone shot today and has to wear a lampshade for about a week…and oatmeal bath etc etc….poor baby…the vet also says she’s never seen a dog’s ear flop like hers at 18 mths so we’re all hoping they will come back once she’s had some itch relief…

Never a dull moment on Wallace Dr.

why do I blog?

a friend (John Rivera at Urban Thought) recently asked the following:
Why do YOU blog?  Why do YOU write, if you do?  I would like you to tell me, right here and now, what YOUR thoughts are.  Because if nothing else, I’m forever curious.

here’s my response:
I blog to keep myself from exploding…or imploding

one of my greatest life challenges has always been my penchant for over sharing and on a blog I can do so with a supposed/suggested anonymity – people who don’t know me can read and devise their opinions of who and what I am…sometimes they get weirded out when they actually meet me because they don’t realize that the person I am on line is different than the one I am face to face…I think when I blog…I try not to concern myself with mundane things like correct punctuation or grammar…I just “virtually” open my mouth and blow it all out…

Blogging has brought me friends and cost me friends…cos sometimes I can say things virtually that I can’t bring myself to say face to face….but mostly (as the VOD would say) I blog to keep my foufou valve from ‘sploding!
